New Product Release: Multi-Purpose Full Document Scanner With OCR Capabilities

The Scanshell 2000 is a USB-powered, TWAIN compliant full document scanner capable of scanning documents ranging in size from business cards and driver's licenses to legal documents. The development of this product is a result of the strong request within the security/access control industry to create a portable scanner that combines a full document scanner (replacing the flatbed) with a driver's license scanner so that all scanning needs for guest relations and administration can be handled within one high-powered, compact piece of hardware.

The Scanshell 2000 has the ability to capture high quality images of full documents, and when packaged with Card Scanning Solutions' revolutionary IdScan software, it can use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to read and parse text information from driver's licenses, business cards and checks. The system is easily integrated into existing PMS or Access Control applications, as well as any other applications that can benefit from ID reading or document capturing.

IdScan has the distinction of being the only scanning system on the market capable of recognizing U.S. licenses from all 50 states as well as military cards and select international cards. When used with these documents, IdScan software populates text fields with information pulled from the card fronts while capturing high-quality images of the cards, making it the perfect system to collect and maintain guest information while creating editable files for print quality digital records. When the system is combined with SwipeScan, the magnetic stripe reader, the IdScan can cross-reference all technologies present on the card (information on the card front, magnetic stripe and 2D barcode) to determine if the card has been doctored.
